Barbara Waldvogle, a resident at Life Care Center of Evergreen, Colorado, is proud that her watercolor painting is now being sent around the country on the front of hundreds of Christmas cards.
Each year, parent company Life Care Centers of America invites residents in more than 220 nursing and rehab facilities to submit Christmas card designs, and one piece is chosen for each of the organization’s geographical divisions. A total of seven designs are printed and distributed to facilities and regional offices throughout the company.
Waldvogle’s painting of a reindeer wearing a Christmas hat was chosen as the winner for Life Care’s facilities in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and Hawaii.
“Well, it was overwhelming [to win], and it is a privilege and an honor for me,” said Waldvogle.
When asked what she enjoys most about the holidays, Waldvogle answered, “Being with my family, just loving and enjoying each other.”
